When Truus called us to inquire if we could get them “Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien” from Édith Piaf for a thought-provoking KFC ad, we knew it wouldn’t be straightforward clearance. Securing music rights like these is never a walk in the park, but we do love a good challenge. While exploring all options, including using the original recording from the 1950s, we chose to re-record the track, ensuring 100% recognizability while keeping things cost effective. This approach also allowed us to slightly rework the orchestration, ensuring it perfectly matched the campaign’s narrative beat, the edit, and various cut-downs across broadcast and social media.
