SPICY KFC
When Truus called us to inquire if we could get them “Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien” by Édith Piaf for a, let’s say, provocative KFC ad, we knew it wouldn’t be a straightforward clearance. Securing major music rights for a project like this is never a walk in the park, but we do love a good licensing challenge.
While exploring all options, including using the original recording from the 1950s, we advised Truus (the advertising agency) to re-record the track; keeping it 100% recognisable but more cost-effective. This approach not only saved our client money that could be put to work in other parts of the film production, but it also allowed us to slightly rework the piece, ensuring it perfectly matched the campaign’s narrative beat, the edit, and the various cut-downs airing across broadcast and social media.
Projects like these, with short deadlines, complex music clearances, and high-quality, impactful music production, are what we live and breathe at Clear Music.
Big shoutout to Truus for being the bold, badass agency they are and for having us on board again!
Bon appétit! ☄️
